Can acne be prevented?

Although acne usually cannot be prevented from occurring in the first place, steps can be taken to stop symptoms from coming back. For example, your doctor may suggest ongoing use of topical medications, often at a lower dose than previously prescribed. It is quite common for treatment to continue until the late teenage years, or sometimes into adulthood. Breakouts may also be prevented by maintaining good skincare habits and avoiding factors known to trigger symptoms.
