How do antiretrovirals work?

Antiretroviral medications work in several different ways to disrupt the replication of HIV. Some of these medications work by blocking enzymes crucial to the replication process, such as protease, integrase, and nucleoside and non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors; fusion inhibitors work by blocking the virus from entering cells.
