How is macular degeneration (MD) diagnosed?

A regular eye examination by an optometrist or ophthalmologist, can detect early signs of macular degeneration (MD). Tests that include checking vision and viewing the retina (using ophthalmoscopy, fluorescein angiography and optical coherence tomography) help to evaluate the position and extent of any damage caused by MD.
