What is anaphylaxis?

Anaphylaxis, also known as anaphylactic shock, is the most severe form of allergic reaction. Immediate and life-threatening symptoms, including breathing difficulties, can be the result of exposure to an allergen (trigger). Without prompt medical attention, anaphylaxis can cause death.
