Can macular degeneration (MD) be cured?

There is no cure for macular degeneration (MD); however, treatment can help to slow or prevent progress of the condition. Unfortunately, once significant damage has occurred to the retina, it is usually not possible to restore normal vision, although some treatments can lead to improvement in vision.
